Our Counselling Services

Are you feeling stuck? Sana Psychological provides in person psychology and counselling services to those in  Calgary and Virtual Counselling (by video or phone) for those located in Alberta or New Brunswick at the time of appointment.

Are you looking for a safe, non-judgmental place to talk about what is happening in your life? Are you open to accepting suggestions and feedback about changes you can make outside of therapy? If so, then we invite you to contact us or book an appointment. We appreciate that all aspects of a person feed into their challenges. Along the way, we will explore physical, emotional, relational, spiritual, financial, and cultural health.

Sana Psychological works with individuals age 18+ who are feeling caught in problem behaviours (alcohol, drugs, cannabis, nicotine, sex, love, relationships, codependency, gambling, food/eating disorders, media, work, spending, and more), relationships, and/or feelings that are not serving them. We also provide therapy services to those who are experiencing problem behaviours that are co-occurring with anxiety, anger, grief/loss, and/or depression.

Problem Behaviour

Whether you are struggling with alcohol, drugs, gambling, food/eating, work, media, relationships, codependency, shopping/spending, sex, or any other type of unhealthy behaviour pattern, Sana Psychological’s Registered Psychologist, Paige Abbott, can help. 

If you are not sure how severe your problem is, the initial 1-2 appointments will work to establish where things are at, recommendations, and how to move forward. Our counselling will always be based on your unique, personal history, strengths, and challenges. Through counselling sessions, you’ll get the resources and support you need to help you get unstuck from unhealthy habits. 

Counselling sessions are offered in-person in Calgary or remotely via Virtual Counselling for those in Alberta and New Brunswick.

Mental Health

Sana Psychological offers counselling services for mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, grief and loss that are co-occurring with problem behaviours. We also provide individual relationship counselling  to help improve the health of your relationships. 

Mental health counselling is an opportunity to meet with an objective, mental health professional. We can help you process and better understand the feelings you’re experiencing. Through counselling sessions, you will receive suggestions and practical tools for improving your day-to-day life.

Our mental health counselling services give you the strength and foundation for a long-term healthy life. It is not just a short-term band-aid solution for a particular problem you’re struggling with. Together we will work to make you more resilient and boost your self-esteem.

About Sana Psychological

Sana Psychological is the solo private counselling practice of Paige Abbott, Registered Psychologist. The practice is based in Calgary, Alberta and provides in person counselling sessions there, as well as virtual services to those located in Alberta and New Brunswick at the time of appointment. Paige has been a Registered Psychologist since 2009 and has cultivated a fairly unique specialty of dealing with problem behaviours of all kinds.

Her counselling approach is talk-based, active, and engaged and involves recommendations and information designed to empower you to understand and be able to better work with your brain. Initial sessions involve getting a sense of who you are, where you want to be, and what is holding you back.

Throughout our sessions, we will explore all aspects of your life and come up with action steps that feel personally relevant, manageable, and helpful.

All sessions use a hybrid approach of counselling, including the therapeutic modalities of:

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

Have you felt trapped by problem behaviours and/or unhealthy relationships, and, despite the best of intentions, have had difficulty moving forward? Do you identify as a person in recovery? Would you like to learn more about yourself, your brain, and the connections to behaviour? If so, then it sounds like we are a good fit for working together. We work with individuals age 18+ who are new and experienced to personal development and are open to an active, educational, and somewhat unique approach to care.

We believe that change is always possible with the right support, awareness, and action. The most important first step is reaching out for support.

Appointments can be booked online at any time by clicking the ‘Book Appointment’ button. If you do not see the ‘new client’ option, please email us to be put on the contact list when a spot opens up. This usually takes 1-2 months.

Appointments are offered Tuesdays-Fridays during the day (no evenings or weekends) and are typically booking 2-4 weeks in advance. If you are a new client and are interested in a free 15 minute consultation call to ask any questions that you have, please email us and we can set this up.
