Holistic counselling takes into account all aspects of the person. Learning about medical history and physical health/care; psychological history and health/care; relationships; spirituality; and cultural background are integral to learning what is going well and what can be improved.
Many people come to counselling looking for a remedy to a particular symptom(s) they are experiencing, not appreciating that this symptom is likely the result of imbalances or issues in multiple areas of health. Holistic counselling is meant to empower the individual and improve overall health, as well as improve the specific symptom(s) of concern. The counselling approach and method is tailored to each client, couple, or family.
